The film 'Before the Flood', starring US actor Leonardo DiCaprio is to be screened at the inauguration ceremony of 6th International Green Film Festival in Iran.
The opening ceremony of the festival will be held at Saba Art and Cultural Institute in Tehran.
Produced in 2016, 'Before the Flood' is a documentary film about climate change.
Directed by Fisher Stevens, the film will be displayed at the first day of the event in the presence of special guests.
United Nations selected DiCaprio as UN representative on climate change in 2014.
Various works across the world have taken part at the festival, including those from US, Mexico, Turkey, Italy, Germany, Ecuador, Poland, South Korea and Russia.
The event's 2017 edition aims to highlight sustainable tourism in line with the UN’s World Tourism Organization that has named 2017 as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development.
As Iran’s sole environmental event on motion pictures, the fest was founded in 1999.
The 6th edition of the International Green Film Festival is slated for September 9-15, to be held simultaneously in Tehran and some other Iranian cities.
